Nodofi

Download Nodofi Relay

Lets a Nodofi Node with no domain and no port forwarding — running from home, behind a router, even behind CGNAT — be reached anyway. It hosts nothing and stores essentially nothing. Anyone can run one.

Requires Node.js 18+ — the download includes step-by-step setup instructions (INSTALL.md)

Windows

Windows 10 and later
nodofi-relay-win-x64.zip
Unzip and run — a script sets it up to start automatically
Download .zip

Linux

nodofi-relay-linux-x64.tar.gz
Sets up a systemd service, starts on boot
Download .tar.gz

Getting started

  1. Don't have Node.js yet? Extract the download and open INSTALL.md inside it first — it walks through installing Node.js on your system, a couple of clicks.
  2. Run the included script for your system (details in INSTALL.md) — it installs this app's own dependencies the first time, then starts it.
  3. Check http://localhost:8820 in a browser — you should see a small JSON status response.
  4. Optional: edit its .env file to point it at a registry, charge nodes for access, or list it in a directory. See the relay's own INSTALL.md (included in the download) for exactly where that file lives on your system.

Running it on a domain, or want the Apache/Nginx configs (including the WebSocket fix)? See the full setup guide.
